China, Now and Then

The last (and only) time I visited mainland China was Oct. 1998. So much has changed since then! The country has experienced a great deal of development, and beautiful parks seem to be plentiful(at least where we were). On my last trip, I stayed with my friend Derek, a language student, in Beijing part of the time and traveled to Xi'an for a few days on my own. On this trip, Professor James Davis, a friend from my time at Hangong Global University, and I were together throughout our stay in an area south of Shanghai. A number of Chinese friends and one foreigner helped us greatly during our eleven days there. Though much has changed in China, elements of the country's past are not hard to find.
