Thankful for Small Miracles
Today, I was gently reminded how our Lord sometimes surprises us with apparently small miracles. After having lunch at a local grocery/dept. store, I realized my sunglasses were missing. I looked frantically around the eating area and inquired of the cashier before going up to the escalator. My friend and I took the escalator to the next floor, and then I decided to look downstairs once more. I visited the main desk to see if my sunglasses turned up there, but was quickly informed they hadn't. While getting ready to walk away, a young man from the dining area informed me that they had been found. I returned to the cashier area, and was given the sunglasses by another employee.
This episode taught me two major lessons: First, I need to learn more Korean. I was able to scrape by in my conversations with employees, but I should be doing more than this after five years here. Second, I can never be grateful enough to our Lord for the "small" miracles He brings every day.
