Post-semester Reflections
I just realized that this is the first "free" weekend I've had in quite some time. My final grades were turned in on Friday, and I don't have any formal responsibilities again until the last week of August. Where did the time go? That's a good question. This semester, my seventh at Handong, seems to have been the most "action packed" of any I've had here. Our English program is undergoing some restructuring right now, and that's resulted in more meetings (and additional work) than usual. Nonetheless, I was blessed with many good students, which helped me to keep focused on my primary reason for being here.
As I wrote earlier, I've facilitated a weekly "Christianity Explored" time with students. The attendance fluctuated with that, and I didn't have the same group of students each week. However, it was good to be involved with leading a regular Bible study again, and I rejoice about two students who came to Christ and others who grew in their knowledge of Him during these times.
Also, we enjoyed hosting a small group Bible study this semester every Wednesday. This was our first time to do that, and I feel several friendships developed as a result. We're hoping to continue this in the fall, and look forward to further growth in our "koinonia" together.
Finally, both Gana and I continually to be involved with the ministries at Jiel(First) Church here. Gana has been blessed with some new instrumentalists to help her lead worship in the Mongolian service. Also, she has periodically been leading worship at the English service as well. I continue to preach occasionally in both the English and Mongolian services. In doing so, I've felt God further developing my calling to proclaim the Gospel to all who come.
