Winter Movies

While at home, we've watched such classic films as E.T., Jurassic Park, and Mr. Mom with my parents. I also got to see three very distinct films at the theater with various groups of people.

Before Christmas, Gana and I watched The Blind Side with mom and dad. It's an inspiring tale of a Christian family demonstrating what faith in Christ should really look like in everyday life. This film was great, not just from a Christian viewpoint, but for containing the most meaningful dialogue I've seen in a Hollywood movie for quite some time.

When I hung out with Chris Nelson and Dennis Blagg, we saw Sherlock Holmes. It has some good humor, and Robert Downey Jr. demonstrated a particularly intriguing British accent. My jet lag really hit me that evening, though, and I now forget much of what this film was about.

The biggest box office smash by far this season has been Avatar. Dad and I saw it in 3-D. It's been ages since I've used 3-D glasses, and this film, full of lush colors, utilized the 3-D effect to the fullest. However, the story is quite pantheistic and the dialogue rather flat. Thus, I feel once is enough for Avatar.
